Here we are
in the most desirable area of America's Mid-West,
the land between the Little Miami and Great Miami Rivers, nestled
in the southwestern part of Ohio
Dayton's
Miami Valley.
Making up the Great Miami Valley are the counties, Montgomery,
Miami, Greene, and Clark. The Greater Miami
Valley is quite extensive, and it includes Warren, Clinton, Preble, Darke,
Fayette, and Madison.
The valley has richness of soil, lushness of meadows, is well timbered
and level. Nature allows us to experience the best of the four seasons
spring,
summer, fall, and winter.
The valley's climate and its productive soils early enticed settlers
to establish agricultural communities, and because of the transportation
advantages provided by the rivers and later the canals, these communities
developed into the industrial cities for which the valley is still
now known. The valley continues to prosper and industry abounds.
Dayton is known as the "city of inventions," and it takes
pride in having given the world the airplane, the cash register,
the automobile self-starter, and the pop-top can
the list continues.
There is no end to new ideas, inventions, and innovations.
We have in this valley a very rich and diverse history to explore. We
offer an exciting array of presentations in the arts plus a wide variety
of cultural events. It is home to many spectacular attractions, both educational
and entertaining. Parks and open spaces are everywhere in the valley. There
are state-of-the-art recreational centers that serve thousands. Our area
offers an elaborate arena of spectator sports, athletic programs, and events.
We are proud of our higher education complex with our colleges, our universities,
and our specialized schools.
Our people are friendly and hospitable, and we host thousands of tourists
every year. Our charm comes from rural villages, farm communities, and
quaint towns to cities with different downtown atmospheres.
The valley has something for everyone. We look forward to a future of
prosperity and growth.
